Amsterdam council goes English
Friday 26 June 2009
English is to become the second official language for Amsterdam city council, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.
Google it!
Like I said, there is No need to learn or speak Dutch if moving to Amsterdam. Dutch is a dying language.

Als je nederlands een rottaal vind dan vraag ik me af waarom jij nederlands spreekt…
July 12th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
Of course Trader226, Amsterdam is the entire Netherlands? And all the citizens in Amsterdam are gonna do English class because they want it to become their 2nd language? Dream on
July 12th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
Dan ga je toch weg als je het een kut taal vind.

Not true. Everyone in Holland speaks dutch, but can speak english as a secund language.
July 16th, 2009 at 12:11 pm
i find it really stupid that dutch people r so obsessed with english…at least flemish people try to preserve the language.:(in griekenland spreken we ook goed engels maar dat betekent niet dat het belangrijker is dan de officiele taal.

I went into a restaurant in Amsterdam, sat down and before I could say anything the waiter came over and spoke English. So no need to learn Dutch, I guess.
Wow, even Amsterdam council imported English as a second official language. Dutch is really dying (especially in Amsterdam, the Netherlands)
July 18th, 2009 at 8:51 am
In Nederland is Engels ook niet belangrijker dan de ‘officiĆ«le’ landstaal.

she just say son of a btch.
July 19th, 2009 at 10:58 am
What do you mean with “dying language?”. There are still 16.000.000 persons who talk Dutch… And don’t think that’s getting less!
July 19th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
prlly you know nothing about holland so shut fuck up - waarschijnlijk weet je niks over nederlands dus hou je bek - see i still dutch
July 20th, 2009 at 8:59 am

July 20th, 2009 at 9:01 am
Ja die ook, maar die 16,000,000 was eigenlijk minimaal want ik zou niet weten hoeveel Zuid Afrikanen het ook spreken…
July 20th, 2009 at 9:10 am

July 20th, 2009 at 9:11 am

July 20th, 2009 at 9:13 am

It’s not ‘dying’. You get the ’second’ in ’second language’? It shouldn’t be a matter of ‘needing’ to learn the language, but you should want to learn the language when you move to another country, any country. Besides, without knowing Dutch you will never really be part of the country and always be handled as some kind of tourist or foreign exchange student. Be glad that we are not as stubborn as the French and Germans when it comes to talking English.
You shouldn’t read Telegraaf.

What makes you so obsessed with this subject anyway?
July 22nd, 2009 at 12:41 pm
THANKS! I’m ready to live in Den Haag now!
